Clearly, bacon-wrapped-anything is delicious. So is the combination of sweet and salty (thanks, biology!). When you put those two already potent combos together, however, you get something truly scrumptious.
These little bite-sized morsels of deliciousness are a breeze to whip up and make great finger foods for get-together and snacks.
- 8 fresh figs, cut in half
- 8 strips of bacon, cut in half (so you’ll have 16 shorter strips)
- Coarse sea salt
- Maple syrup
1. Wrap each half of a fresh fig in a strip of bacon. It’ll look something like this (although these were already baked but I just wanted to show the wrapping):
2. While you’re wrapping the figs, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
3. Bake for 15 minutes.
4. Take out of the oven (but keep your oven on) and sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on each.
5. Pour a dollop of maple syrup over each bacon wrapped fig (I’ll leave how much to you).
6. Stick back in the oven for 5 minutes (still at 350).
7. Remove from oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes. You can also stick them in the fridge for 5 minutes after that if you want them more crunchy. (I’ll be honest, we tend to eat them before that happens but it does make them better.)
